About the State Tested Nursing Assistant Program:
The Ohio Institute of Allied Health State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) program provides students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to begin a rewarding healthcare career. This short-term training program combines classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and supervised clinical experiences to prepare students to provide compassionate, safe, and competent care to individuals in long-term care facilities, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare settings.

Throughout the program, students will learn the fundamental skills required of a nurse aide, including assisting with activities of daily living, infection prevention and control, communication techniques, patient safety, vital signs, restorative care, and maintaining resident dignity and independence. Students will first develop their skills in a simulated laboratory environment before applying them during supervised clinical training in a healthcare facility.
The curriculum is designed to prepare graduates to provide high-quality, patient-centered care while demonstrating professionalism, compassion, and ethical responsibility. Students will gain the confidence and practical experience necessary to become valued members of the healthcare team.
Successful completion of the program prepares graduates to take the Ohio State Tested Nurse Aide competency examination and pursue employment as a State Tested Nurse Aide in long-term care facilities, hospitals, home health agencies, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare settings.
Admissions and Enrollment
Each program has specific admissions requirements that must be met prior to enrollment. Please review the catalog for the admissions policies for the Practical Nursing Program at the Ohio Institute of Allied Health, Inc. All applicants for programs must be 18 years or older and a high school graduate or possess a GED certificate.
Disqualifying Offenses for Enrollment
A criminal background could prevent enrollment into the Ohio Institute of Allied Health, Inc. Under no circumstances will OIAH admit an applicant with a felony conviction of any kind. It is very rare for OIAH to admit an applicant with a misdemeanor conviction on their record. If an applicant is aware of any convictions, they are expected to inform their Admissions Representative who can advise on next steps.
